Dear Edie,
Over the next 10 days you will be receiving a few more emails from me than you might be used to!! Whether that is good or bad, you can decide!! :-)
I want to discuss the importance of building a colorful TEAM of distributors that work together toward a common goal of ultimate success in your business. No matter what personality color you may be, we need to utilize each individual’s strengths and assist each other with our weaknesses. So let’s just start to spell it out!
T = TRUST!
This is the perfect place to start because without it NO TEAM can exist. Not a business team, sports team, family team or a team of friends! Are you a TRUST WORTHY person? Do OTHERS think you are trust worthy? Do you have trust in your upline, downline, sideline? Do they have trust in you? It’s a GREAT day when you can say yes to all those questions, isn't it!
It's often times the LITTLE things that build trust not necessarily the BIG things! This can be a problem for different color types!
For Yellow and Green personalities, building trust comes relatively easy. They expect it from others so it comes natural that they will take the time to do the little things that are so important to build it for themselves. Blue and Red individuals often are too busy, preoccupied with bigger events, overlook or simply don't think that the little things should matter that much really! (Hint: Do the LITTLE things, they often matter the most!)
TRUST TAKES TIME! This characteristic is only achieved through time and we need to work on it every single day, but how? Well here are some things that will build a trusting relationship:
BE CONSISTANT and DEPENDABLE!... SHOW UP!!! If you are supposed to be on a call, be there! If you are supposed to be at a meeting, be there! If you are supposed to follow-up on something, do it! EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE DOES!!! (In the interest of full disclosure, I, as a BLUE, need to really work on this aspect. Not because I don't care but because my schedule is so crazy. Sometimes I say yes to way too many things and lacking any great green assets my scheduling, or lack of, can cause an occasional "OMG, I can't believe I missed that commitment!" I hate that and take pride in NOT allowing that to happen!...too often!:-))
STAY CLOSE!! Distance equals DIS-trust! (Try it with your kids and you will recognize the results!) Give a call! Shoot out an email! Send a card! Just to say hello and check in. It does not take all that much to stay 'close' to your leadership. When I am traveling, I make sure my kids (and Cindy) get at minimum a quick call from Dad to say Good Night or just a quick I Love You. THERE IS ALWAYS TIME FOR THAT!! Downlines the same way, (except maybe the I Love You part) a message left on a recorder saying "Just wanted to check in and say hey! Hope all is great with you, let me know if there is anything I can do for you!" goes a long, long way!!
In closing, this WARNING! While Trust takes time to build, it can only take a second to destroy it!! Protect it with everything you have! It is your personal foundation of strength!
OK, I trust that you have probably had enough of me today! Have a Blessed Easter, talk to you soon.
Pat
PS: T also stands for TODAY!! There is no time better than TODAY to start building trust with someone NEW to our business! Act like you MUST introduce someone to our incredible opportunity TODAY and watch how exciting tomorrow can become!!
