Three years ago, we began a journey that has given us more than we could have dreamed: time with our family, additional income, but most importantly the knowledge that we have helped and continue to help our Earth and people we meet in so many different ways. I was previously a network administrator who loved working with computers and the daily challenges of problem solving. I had a good relationship with my co-workers, vendors, management and the like. More than twenty years of experience helped me work my way to a management position. When I got there, I found there was a hefty price to pay -- less time with my family and political nonsense. Like so many of us, I kept telling myself "There's got to be a better way!" According to the American Heritage Dictionary, Successful means, "Having obtained something desired or intended." People everywhere struggle to reach the top, to be the best, live stress-filled lives working 60-70 hours a week to impress others who are benefiting from their hard work, only to retire with an income that is a fraction of their monthly salary! I don't know about you, but to me this is not the definition of "successful", it is not "something desired or intended". Yet, every day we set ourselves up for this "success". I knew I had to do something different, take a step out of my comfort zone, think outside of the box, and regain control of my future. Many of you may be in the same position at your place of employment, whether you are just starting out or have been in the same line of work for some five, ten or even twenty and thirty years. Some of you may be facing retirement in the not too distant future and are asking yourself, "What am I going to do for the rest of my life?" "How will we live on just this little bit?" This was Bob's story. At the time we started the business, he was facing retirement in under five years. From what we had read about network marketing, we knew that anything we started would help us in our retirement years through residual income. We just needed to find the right company to partner with, a company that was well established, had a great support system in place, a history of taking care of its distributors, and one positioned for global growth. We also wanted a company that cared about their customers, was a steward for the environment, and helped those in need. This is when Bob introduced me to our sponsor, Shirley, and Shaklee.
